PRESS REVIEWS of “Princess Bean’s Messy World”

In the have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too-department is the winsome Princess Bean’s Messy World , a musical story by singer-
songwriter Rachel Bean. She’s a grown-up who understands that while girls of today may shun the vapid, helpless heroines of
traditional fairy tales, they’re still attracted by the princess concept. So here comes spunky Princess Bean, a pink-haired
dynamo in combat boots who slays dragons, rescues princes, and gets majorly grubby in the process.

Does she prevail? You betcha. And she has tons of fun in the process, belting out catchy rock and roll tunes and in general
asserting her emphatic individuality. That is the whole point of Princess Bean’s Messy World: It encourages girls to be
themselves – the less conventional the better. Not a bad message for those about to shoot the treacherous rapids of
adolescence. - Moira McCormick of BillBoard and Family Fun Magazines.

Traditional fairy tales get a good dose of shake, rattle and roll in this spirited mix of storytelling and rock tunes. Princess Bean
has always been content as the crazily clad lead character in a storybook in the library. She moves from chapter to chapter
rescuing princes, rebuilding her castle, and whistling in 107 different languages.

But when the royal gal gets the itch to prove to herself that she is “a princess of the highest kind,” she needs to jump into
another library book and seek advice from longstanding princesses Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty.

As she bounds from fairy tale to fairy tale and even tries to win “The Prettiest Primping Princess Pageant,” Princess Bean
realizes that her unique and spunky approach to being a princess is all she’ll ever need in life.

A talented cast of actors and musicians – including the recording’s co-creators, Rachel Bean Resnikoff and Eric Stephens –
delivers a brand of humor and high-energy music [often featuring flashes of funk] that turns familiar stories tiara over glass
slipper. Resnikoff’s powerful singing voice nimbly moves from whisper to full throttle giving these proceedings a distinctive
spark. -PUBLISHERS’ WEEKLY -

Princess Bean raps her way through fractured fairy-tale adventures with sassy confidence. The music is spunky, jazzy, and
uplifting, providing the sweet message that every girl is a princess. Rating A- PARENTING MAGAZINE

Hey Dads! If you’re the father of a girl, ages 4-10, you’re undoubtedly utterly frustrated with those classic fairy tales, like
Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. All these princesses, ever so lovely, and ever so passively waiting for some
prince to come and rescue them so they can live happily ever after. Where are all the "new" princesses? Meet Princess Bean,
the spunky heroine of Princess Bean’s Messy World, a rock-and-roll fairytale by Rachel Bean Resnikoff and Eric Stephens .

Princess Bean lives in her own fairy-tale book in which she slays dragons and rescues princesses, as well as whistling in over
100 different languages. But one day she gets curious about all those other books on the library shelf, peeks over into another
story and-flop, she lands right in the middle of the stories of those other three pretty-in-pink princess poseurs – Cinderella,
Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. In a series of amusing songs and vignettes, our spunky heroine confronts these three
traditional heroines…

This is a marvelous record with bouncy sing-along songs done to rock, rap and soul tunes. The Mirror in the Snow White
vignette bears a vocal resemblance to Mick Jagger, making his vanity that much funnier. Your daughters will be inspired to
heroic deeds, and the whole family will have a great time singing along in the car. - DR. MICHAEL KIMMEL for
DADSANDDAUGHTERS.COM. [Dr. Kimmel is an international authority on gender issues.]

Princess Bean’s Messy World follows the topsy-turvy world of Princess Bean through a series of foibles and adventures.
Princess Bean, a spunky, pink-haired girl in high-tops who can whistle in 107 different languages, is always getting herself into
one hilarious mishap after another. Hip rock’n’ roll and cool jazz are the background for this entertaining collection of songs for
young girls. - LOS ANGELES FAMILY

Contemporary rock music, excellent production and clever lyrics make this album a positive entertainment experience as well
as delivering an important message to young girls. The whole album supports the idea that every girl is a princess inside, as
long as she is true to herself. Notable songs include “Bean’s Bag,” “The Mirror,” “Run Jump Play,” “All Alone” and “Rock the
Book.” - FLORIDA FAMILY & PARENTING

Princess Bean isn’t your typical royal. In fact she’s not really a royal at all but a self-proclaimed princess created by Rachel
Bean Resnikoff, whose love of children encouraged her to find a means to both entertain and to help foster positive
psychological growth.

Resnikoff said she wanted to give girls an alternative to Barbie that was also boy-friendly,a character kids can identify with, a
character whose individuality, adventurous spirit, and self-esteem are positively infectious.“Kids are really smart,” says
Resnikoff, “ but the media does not provide them - especially girls - with sufficient role models for being their own person and
tapping their full range of inner resources.

With the help of her creative collaborator, Eric Stephens, Resnikoff has created a : a colorful, outspoken character that will
appeal to both girls and boys. She is hip. She does her own thing her own way. She knows her own mind. She has her own
sense of style. And she is also as capable as any 4-10 year-old of loosing her center and direction yet willing and able to find
them again.

Part of Princess Bean’s appeal is her sense of adventure. Kids will also be impressed by her sense of integrity and self-
esteem. “Princess Bean does not talk down to kids. She’s going [and growing] through the same issues they are,” says
Resnikoff.

Princess Bean is a heroine for the new millenium. And she is the star of “Princess Bean’s Messy World,” a new CD described
as a rock-and-roll fairytale by Stephens and Resnikoff, who provides the speaking and singing voice of Princess Bean. This first
in a series of Princess Bean musical adenture stories is upbeat and imaginative to hold the attention of kids ages 4 to 10 [
although you could just as truthfully say ages 4-84]. Nancy Hewitt for LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS

Princess Bean’s Messy World is a modern rock-and-roll fairy tale full of catchy songs. The heroine, Princess Bean, is not your
typical princess. She dresses in tie-dyed clothes, has an electric guitar strapped around her back and lives inside a book at the
librarywithher two friends, Dragon and Prince. And she is not standing around waiting for Prince Charming to save her.

The story revolves around her desire to become a princess “of the highest order,” but she runs into trouble at the Prettiest
Primping Princess Pageant. Her jealous competitors try to foil her, but Princess Bean prevails, reaffirming her confidence in
herself.

Though the story is aimed primarily at girls, 6-to-8-year-old boys are sure to enjoy the songs, the story line and Princess Bean’s
outgoing, tomboyish, in-your-face personality. The catchy pop/rock songs will help keep kids following the story, ad the
empowering themes should stay with the listeners long after this rock-and-roll fairy tale comes to a conclusion.- Fred Koch for
CHICAGO PARENT

Wouldn’t it be nice if kids nowadays could break away from the TV and get the magic woven by those spoken and sung stories
of yesteryear? Well, now they can with Princess Bean’s Messy World , a fairy tale of the most fantastical sort, with dragons,
princes, castles – but there is nothing old-fashioned about the album. It is a self-proclaimed rock and roll fairytale that is
realized by a character just like any regular girl who, with a little spunk and mischievousness, ends up a hero. The album is
target towards children 4-10, who will be exposed to a large dose of integrity and self-esteem issues without even knowing it.
And they’ll have lots of fun. It’s a parent’s dream. - MORNING NEWS , FLORENCE SC

PARENT & TEACHER COMMENTS

Customer Review from Amazon.com: *****

The first time my daughter listened to Princess Bean, she sat in her room and just listened. It was really cool. Now she quotes
Princess Bean and sings along. I love the message for kids- Be yourself, have adventures, be smart and brave and you'll be
beautiful. – Anne Wilson ( Anne-Wilson is a Child Develoment Professional at Headstart and has a four-year-old daughter,
Delia).

Princess Bean's Messy World is a powerful message masquerading as a children's musical. In this era of anorexic female role
models bombarding television and movie screens, billboards, magazines and even toy stores with "look like me, act like me"
image marketing, it is refreshing to find a "real girl" role model who exudes honesty, a sense of self-worth and an adventurous
spirit. Through a captivating plot and innovative lyrics set to a memorable, toe-tapping, sing-along musical score, Princess
Bean's story tells kids (and adults) that it's okay to be who you are. Two thumbs up! – An Enthusiastic Fan

Princess Bean's Messy World is the perfect CD. It enables you to share the fun and pleasure of Rock-N-Roll and, at the same
time, teach your kids basic lessons on the importance of respecting and appreciating people for who they are. The music is
enjoyable, the songs are quite catchy ("Bean's Bag" and "Will I Win" are personal favorites), but just as importantly, the story and
message are invaluable. With Princess Bean and the power of music, parents are provided with a great tool to teach your
daughter (or son) that everyone is a princess, and that being genuine and true to yourself is much more important than having a
shallow, materialistic value system. After listening to Messy World a few times, you'll soon catch yourself humming the catchy
lyrics, reciting favorite lines while you're doing laundry, cleaning bedrooms, playing baseball with the kids, etc. Brittany and I are
truly looking forward to the sequel! –Laurie Usinger, Lafayette, CA

This is the best album for children I've ever heard. It is not your average children's album. I enjoy it as much as my children. My
daughter is 6 and my son is 8 1/2 and it is all they want to listen to. The message is so important and this album says it without
hitting you over the head. It is like a full musical on CD - scenes, songs and sound design. If we listen to it in the car my children
don't complain about how long it takes to get somewhere. I so recommend this product. You won't regret it! – Daniel Davis, Los
Angeles, CA

YES TO THE MUSIC & MESSAGE! I first listened to this CD because I knew the composer's mother-in-law. Being a musician,
myself, I didn't expect much from it--snob that I often am. However, I was delighted with both the music and the words. The
message is one I wish I could have brought my own daughter up on--and tried to, without the aid of this CD. And now I'm very
happy to be able to give it to my two grand nieces. The music will set them dancing, and the message will have them listening
to it again and again. – Jan Leckrone, Ann Arbor, MI
